Ludovic de Saint Sernin has been named the new creative director of Ann Demeulemeester.
The designer’s goal for the label is to shape their core traits around his vision, proclivities, and individuality, in order to offer his reading and connect with today’s audience. He wants to use his approach to fashion as a tool to shape and free the client’s presence and appearance. As an introduction of his vision for the brand, de Saint Sernin and Ann Demeulemeester released six photos by Willy Vanderperre, where the designer models items from the brand’s archives styled by Olivier Rizzo.
Ludovic de Saint Sernin was born in Brussels but was raised in Paris. A graduate from the École Supérieure des Arts Appliqués Duperré, he began his career at Balmain before launching his namesake label in 2017. The designer became known for his sensual, gender fluid take on fashion.
Ann Demeulemeester has been designed by their in-house team since July 2020, when former creative director Sébastien Meunier left. Shortly after, it was revealed that the brand, its headquarters, flagship store, Paris showroom and complete archive had been purchased by Italian retailer Claudio Antonioli.
Ludovic de Saint Sernin’s first collection for Ann Demeulemeester is due to be unveiled in March 2023 during Paris Fashion Week.
